Minister Bbatunde Alegbeleye

Babatunde Alegbeleye is a nurse, providing over twenty-five years of teamwork and collaboration to provide required healthcare needs to our nation’s aging veterans in a primary care setting. An activist and a community leader with over forty years of public service, he was born in Lagos, Nigeria. Growing up in a low-income household was tough; however, he was determined to provide a better future for himself. After his secondary education, his parents encouraged him to learn a trade instead of becoming a professional soccer player. He chose Silk-Process Printing, which was growing at the time in the country. His first employment was at the Oyo State Government Printing Press. He secured admission to further his education in the United States of America the same year. Having learned about public service from his father, who was the secretary of a political party, this passion grew and engulfed him. He started by volunteering with Catholic Charities while living in Philadelphia. He has since been involved in advocacy for others. Babatunde is a member of several progressive groups seeking to develop broader civic engagement and encourage political participation of fellow Africans in Maryland, D.C., and Northern Virginia. He was the Regional Coordinator for the Nigerian American Public Affairs Committee (NAPAC) and a member of the United Nigerian American Council (UNAC). Babatunde is a union activist with the (AFGE) American Federation of Government Employees; served as the local Chief Shop Steward and the Local Political Coordinator; Elected President, Employee Association at the Veterans Administration Medical Center, D.C. He is also a member of (MDCRAB) Maryland Community Research Advisory Board and (YORNNA) Yoruba Nurses of North America, delivering health missions yearly to the less fortunate in Nigeria. He holds a Bachelor’s in Business Management, an Applied Science Degree with a focus in Cyber Security, and is an Ordained Minister, Coach, and Mentor. He is also a serial entrepreneur. Babatunde has volunteered with the city of Bowie’s Diversity Committee and the Bowie Youth and Teen Mentoring Program. He also volunteered as a Legacy Leadership Legislative Intern at the Maryland General Assembly and is a veteran of the United States Army. Being part of his community for over twenty-eight years, Babatunde is a husband, father of five daughters, two sons, and a granddaughter, all well-educated. He is always committed to serving his community and is a justice ambassador.
